The Challenge:

In this new business area, we are looking for a Market Development Manager who will actively drive the North American medical business for DSM Engineering Materials (DEM), identify commercial opportunities in North America and be actively involved in the development and execution of a business plan, specifically concerning the business development of DEM’s new Medical business in the North American market. 

 

Market Development Manager North America (NA) has a key role in the development of relevant and differentiating value propositions in the NA market and in the development of a customer portfolio for the new Medical business. You will actively engage with customers, develop a commercial pipeline and work collaboratively with the global team.   This sales position reports to Vice President, Business Lines, who is based in the Netherlands.

 

Ideal geography for this position is East coast or Midwest United States. 

 

In the role of Market Development Manager Medical, you will:

  • Develop & implement a global Medical sales plan and ‘go to market’ strategy
  • Execute the North American business development plan
  • Identify new market opportunities and evaluate their potential
  • Clearly define & execute product marketing positioning
  • Evaluate competitors’ products in all aspects of technical and commercial position and develop a differentiation strategy
  • Develop commercial contacts and build relationships with targeted North American customers
  • Lead the global medical team and drive the global Medical business plan
  • Establish and execute regional North American commercial plans
  • Be responsible for regional market intelligence

 

What we want to see in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial experience in the medical industry required
  • Commercial experience at a MedTech appliance market leader highly preferred
  • New business development experience is required; proven track record in achieving ambitious business development targets resulting in above market growth
  • Proven track record in working in an innovative highly dynamic field, global matrix organizations and bringing in commercial results in the VUCA (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) world
  • Strong business acumen
  • Capabilities to work with cross-functional disciplines and cross-region colleagues/customers; project management experience
  • Strong self-insight and insight in others, inclusive mindset
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
