The Challenge

As a Virtual Sales Account Manager you are based at DEM Troy, MI and are able to grow profitable business with new and existing customer accounts. Virtual Sales Account Managers strategically identify, develop and commercialize new business at new leads generated typically via digital and analytics tools. You will manage the interface between customers, marketing, product management and R&D. This position requires interacting with direct accounts in many different industrial segments with broad geographic coverage.

Limited travelling is needed: you are expected to interact with customers predominantly in a virtual way and you will participate in internal Sales Meetings.


The Position

  • Implements yearly sales budgets and drives for exceeding results in terms of sales quantity, net sales, pricing and margin management, and portfolio leverage at existing and new accounts.
  • Nurtures and grows existing customer base; negotiates and closes sales
  • Actively seeks and identifies leads using internet, referrals, industry articles, associations, etc.
  • Performs proactive, outbound sales activities such as: post sales customer follow-up and promotional campaigns to existing customers, prospects and leads
  • Builds strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Maintains lead and customer data/records including updating all activities, contacts and correspondence within internal sales tools (CRM)
  • Proactively stays on top of changes in industries and products

The Ideal

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent experience in Engineering or Business related field
  • Must have at least 3  years of relevant sales experience
  • Proven sales experience chemical industry preferred but not mandatory, telephone sales and cold calling experience a strong plus
  • Excellent customer service, organizational and negotiating skills
  • Detail oriented with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent telephone communication skills
  • Computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products, internet, CRM or Salesforce, Analytical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team player in a close-knit sales team
  • Proactive learner, ambitious and success driven; strong interest to develop technical product & application skills
  • Confident, energetic and organized,willing to explore and develop
