We are currently looking for a Engineering intern at our St Louis, MO office.

 

The 2026 dsm-firmenich Summer Internship Program will run from June 1, 2026 to August 14, 2026.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm

Your key responsibilities

  • Assisting with Projects: Interns often support ongoing engineering projects by helping with design, testing, or analysis. This might involve drafting designs, creating prototypes, or running simulations.
  • Data Analysis: Many engineering roles require data collection and analysis. Interns will be tasked with gathering data from experiments or projects, analysing the results, and presenting their findings to the team.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Keeping detailed records is crucial in engineering. Interns will be responsible for documenting processes, writing reports, or updating project files to ensure that information is easily accessible and organized.
  • Collaboration and Communication: This role involves participating in team meetings, contributing to discussions, and collaborating on solutions to engineering challenges.
  • Learning and Development: Interns are expected to learn about the company's processes, tools, and technologies. They will attend training sessions, seek mentorship from experienced engineers, and take initiative to develop their skills through hands-on experience.
  • Support in Quality Assurance: Interns may assist in quality control and assurance processes. This can involve testing products or systems, identifying defects, and ensuring that engineering standards and specifications are met. They might also help in developing testing protocols or documentation related to quality assessments.

You Bring

  • Currently working on completion of a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or related fields.
  • Must be available to work full-time on-site beginning on June 1, 2026, to August 14, 2026.
  • Excellent communication and strong analytical skills and ability to identify trends using Excel
  • Work safely in an aromatic (food flavors) production environment. 
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize and parse data, Experience in Microsoft Suite
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.

 

The hourly rate for this position is $23.00 - $26.00 per hour.  Compensation will be dependent on factors that include location, education, training, specific skills, and years of experience.

 

At the end of this internship, you will:

have observed large-scale production of food flavors using Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) along with principles of Manufacturing, Quality and Safety. The position will emphasize product creation which includes production operations, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives within the liquid flavors and vanilla manufacturing areas.
