Senior Supervisor, Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor, 1st shift

Exton and Wayne, PA 

Monday-Friday 1st shift  7am-3:30pm

                            

The Senior Supervisor, Maintenance & Facilities Supervisor plans, oversees, and assigns maintenance and repair work for equipment, facilities, and utilities, ensuring compliance with applicable quality, safety, regulatory, and internal standards across the Exton site, including the Pennsylvania Drive, Sierra Drive, and Devon Park Drive facilities. Accountable for day‑to‑day leadership, prioritization, and execution of maintenance and facilities activities to ensure safe, compliant, and reliable operations. Responsible for supporting hiring and onboarding of maintenance and facilities employees; coordinating staffing, rotation, and movement; evaluating employee performance; and ensuring compliance with agreements, policies, and regulatory requirements. Contributes to follow‑up on activities and training, collaborates on management and operational processes—including capital planning and resource optimization—and supports the ongoing development of maintenance and facilities team capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates achievement of operational plans and maintenance/facilities objectives based on available resources.
  • Provides front-line leadership to maintenance and facilities employees; collaborates with other department supervisors to ensure consistent standards, coverage, and execution.
  • Assigns work based on employee skills, qualifications, and business priorities.
  • Supports selection, inspection, and installation of new equipment, including recommendations for preventive maintenance tasks and spare-parts requirements.
  • Writes, reviews, and approves operational documents (e.g., procedures, nonconformances, CAPA, work instructions, work permits, and validation reports).
  • Leads and coordinates equipment, asset, and tooling qualification and requalification.
  • Ensures compliance with equipment and facilities control policies and procedures.
  • Supports operational personnel with the introduction of new assets, as needed.
  • Assists with troubleshooting manufacturing process issues, as needed.
  • Leads and coordinates work performed by outside contractors and vendors.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies to support business continuity.
  • Ensures cleaning and housekeeping of administrative, non-production, and controlled areas meet regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Provides operational input, performance feedback, and recommendations related to service contracts.

You Bring:

  • High school graduate, technical or trade schooling preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in maintenance and facilities operations.
  • Demonstrated senior supervisory or lead experience in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Extensive experience with facility and utility systems, including boilers, chillers and cooling towers, substations, emergency generators, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), MCC panels, and electrical distribution systems.
  • CMMS experience, Blue Mountain a plus.
  • Experience partnering with manager‑level leaders on planning, prioritization, and team development.
  • Knowledge of GMP requirements is desirable.
  • Third party vendor management, managing contractors and obtaining work permits.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey information in person, by telephone, and in written form (including email).
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word and Excel) and Building Automation Systems (BAS) is desirable
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to function effectively as part of a multifunctional, cross‑departmental team.
  • Expert knowledge and hands‑on experience with manufacturing machinery and tooling in a medical device or similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
  • Strong problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.
  • High attention to detail, ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline, flexible “can‑do” mindset, and the ability to adjust workload as business needs change.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability to build, develop, and sustain a high‑performing maintenance and facilities team.
  • Ability to perform the role in compliance with applicable dsm‑firmenich, OSHA, EPA, ISO, FDA, CE, IBC, NEC, and other regulatory and company requirements.
  • Accuracy, detail oriented, initiative to multi-task with deadlines, flexible can-do attitude, and ability to adjust workload to meet varying schedules. 
  • Demonstrated proven leadership abilities required to assemble, develop and maintain a high performance maintenance team.
  • Execute the job within the applicable dsm-firmenich, OSHA, EPA, ISO, FDA, CE, IBC, NEC & other requirements.

 

 

The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Salary $96k - $120k USD.

 In addition to base salary, we also offer a comprehensive total rewards package, inclusive of annual incentive pay, a retirement savings plan, health care coverage, paid time off, recognition programs and a broad range of other benefits.
