The Senior Manager Global Technical Marketing, Natural Materials serves as the global technical marketing lead and primary interface between customers, commercial teams, and cross-functional functions within Biomedical. This externally facing role combines deep technical expertise with strategic marketing leadership to drive business growth, customer adoption, and market development for the natural materials portfolio. The role is responsible for translating strategic marketing plans into actionable go-to-market and application strategies, while leading product positioning, value proposition development, and new product launch execution.
Acting as the go-to technical expert, this position provides hands-on customer support, application guidance, and troubleshooting, while enabling the commercial organization through training, technical insight, and account engagement. The role partners closely with R&D, Innovation, Operations, Quality/Regulatory, and Commercial teams to ensure alignment from product development through commercialization. It also leverages customer, market, and competitive intelligence to inform portfolio strategy, pricing, and growth opportunities.
In addition, the role plays a key leadership function in emerging growth areas such as cell culture, regenerative medicine, biosensors, and additive manufacturing, ensuring alignment with segment strategy and innovation roadmaps. Overall, the position bridges technical depth with commercial execution, influencing customer decisions, accelerating adoption of biomaterial solutions, and driving sustained global business growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- External facing Technical Marketing to the Customer
- Primary point of contact for commercial team on product technical expertise, and direct customer support.
- Drive new business with training commercial team on existing and new product portfolio.
- Global educator of our portfolio at international meetings
- Codify the value propositions of our portfolio into promotional content
- Support pricing decisions with customer and competitive intelligence
- Identify sales targets and hold Commercial accountable for new product launch campaigns on sales target follow-up
- Provide product assistance to both partners and end users with respect to the processing and use of applicable biomaterials, within the medical device space (i.e. product selection, troubleshooting, technical inquiries, and development of expertise in device component manufacturing/prototyping)
- Translate the Biomaterials and Clinical Area Strategic Marketing Plans (SMPs) into practical application strategies and support their implementation
- Serve as a technical interface with Customers among multi-disciplinary teams of Customer/Prospect, R&D/Innovation, Manufacturing/Operations, Quality/Regulatory & Commercial.
- Support new business development initiatives in areas of technical and market expertise for organic and inorganic growth
- Own application strategy for natural materials and emerging growth markets
Emerging Growth Leadership (Cell Culture, Cell & Gene Therapy, Biosensors, and 3D Printing):
- Provide strategic and technical leadership for Biomedical’s opportunities within cell culture, regenerative medicine, and cell & gene therapy adjacent product and material offerings.
- Retain defined responsibility biosensor technologies, ensuring continuity with existing engagements and strategic opportunity development
- Lead technical and market development efforts across emerging growth markets, including all applicable material technologies.
- Ensure alignment of emerging growth opportunities with segment strategy, innovation roadmaps, and customer needs
Organizational Positioning:
- Formal reporting line to Natural Materials Business Segment Head
- Maintains dotted-line reporting structure to Global marketing to ensure ongoing continuity and support for emerging growth markets.
- Retain defined responsibility biosensor technologies, ensuring continuity with existing engagements and strategic opportunity development

You Bring:
- PHD in science or technology (chemistry, material science, polymer chemistry, chemical engineering, biomaterials), Masters with at least 10-12 years of experience in the field or Bachelors with at least 20 years of experience in the field, including chemical or biomaterials application development experience
- Strong knowledge of medical (device) industry in regards to Quality Systems (e.g. ISO 13485, ISO 22442) and regulatory issues
- Subject matter expert staying updated on industry trends, innovations, and applications
- Strong knowledge in field of technical/scientific expertise, may have knowledge in multiple dsm-firmenich Biomedical technologies
- Track record of customer engagement, supporting commercial partnerships
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics CRM and the lead management funnel
- Ability to travel ~30%
