Senior Maintenance Technician 

Schenectady, NY

Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm

Pay: $28 - $34/hour (Depending on experience)

                                                                                 

 

As a Senior Maintenance Technician for dsm-firmenich, Production-Premix, you are responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment failures, and determining the appropriate course of action for repairs. You will also create safe work permits for work and mentor other team members for one of dsm-firmenich’s largest premix plants globally. This is for our 2 key business segments: Human Nutrition and Health division where we produce liquids and dry blends for our dietary supplements and food for our warehouse and support facilities.

 

If you have experience in Manufacturing, (Food or Dietary Supplements) Warehouse, Supply Chain and experience with preventative maintenance and repair work along with CMMS software and strong problem solving skills, this may be the opportunity for you!

  

Responsibilities:

  • Facilities and building maintenance including but not limited to HVAC units, air compressors, and similar.
  • Motor troubleshooting, repair, and replacement.
  • Maintenance and repair of electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic machinery/equipment.
  • Plumbing and minor electrical.
  • Preventative maintenance including all documentation and record keeping.
  • Exterior building maintenance. 
  • Assist all departments in repairs.
  • Experience in root-cause analysis, analyze, and troubleshoot repair of all equipment.
  • Displays and promotes positive safety behaviors; uses proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment, and procedures to ensure that self and others go home safe each day; that area and equipment operate at the highest safety levels; that all people in the area comply with the safety directives and keep the area neat and clean.
  • Participates in SHE/GMP training meetings and SHE critical PMs (Preventative Maintenance).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail as well as effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Must be able to work weekends, overtime, and holidays as maintenance demand requires including call-ins  (As needed)

 

You bring:

  • High School diploma or equivalent; a degree from a vocational school or relevant certifications (e.g., license in crafts) is a plus OR Two-year trade school or apprentices’ program with 5 years’ experience.
  • Minimum of 3 + years’ experience as a Sr. Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with CMMS software (We use Fiix).
  • Knowledge and skills to operate a personal computer and computer driven controls systems.
  • Valid unrestricted driver’s license. (May drive Dump truck, and work with Pit equipment: forklift, pallet jacks, reach trucks, order pickers etc.).
  • Flexibility on schedule due to on call rotation.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of duties in the assigned work area.

 

The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Hourly $28-$34.00/hour (Depending on experience)
