The Maintenance/Safety Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all maintenance, facility work, and repairs to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the site during a 5-day, 16-hour shift. This role supervises maintenance technicians and is accountable for work planning, ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as dsm-firmenich’s Life Saving Rules (LSRs). The Supervisor will work closely with the Safety Manager to implement safety protocols, conduct risk assessments, provide training, monitor compliance, and investigate safety incidents.

Your key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the site operations and detailed processes and ensure key risks are well-understood and mitigated through the site Management System and action plans. Ensure all contractors are current with the company’s Safety Training and other requirements.
  • Coordinate maintenance planning by working with production to develop a schedule and ensure feasibility. Act as Maintenance Buyer to manage the “Kitting” for planned work.
  • Develop and execute capital and maintenance projects, including preparing capital requests (as necessary) and soliciting bids and overseeing project.  
  • Keep records for all permits and certifications for all equipment, utilities, and calibration records. Manages facility and grounds maintenance requirements and responds to repair needs.
  • Work with Maintenance Technician and Production to develop the maintenance strategy for all assets. Work with Project Leads to ensure all changes are made to the maintenance strategy and maintenance system before capital projects are implemented.

You bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with a focus on maintenance and chemicals
  • Strong technical and computer skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information effectively.
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis and risk assessment methodologies
  • Experience in planning and scheduling work tasks.
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices and regulatory requirements
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to thrive and remain agile in a fast-paced work setting.
