Safety, Health, Environmental & Sustainability Specialist 

Exton, PA (On-site)

 

The Safety, Health, Environmental & Sustainability Specialist will ensure compliance with all applicable environmental and product transportation regulations (internal and external), keeps abreast of any changes to laws and regulations that impact the organization, serves as an environmental contact for all federal, state, and local regulatory bodies, and to continuously improve environmental awareness and performance at the site by developing and assisting in the implementation of programs, digital systems, and performance monitoring that will result in the prevention of incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and experience in environmental and sustainability management, including conducting field audits, implementing continuous improvement processes, and authoring relevant SOPs and policies.

  • Interpret and implement environmental regulations at local, state, federal, and corporate levels.

  • Manage hazardous materials transportation and ensure compliance with labeling and packaging standards.

  • Oversee and enhance environmental management systems with efficient tracking capabilities.

  • Develop site-specific protocols and contingency plans for environmental compliance.

  • Monitor environmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and propose improvement actions for sustainable practices.

  • Provide support for Safety, Health, and Environmental (SHE) programs across all departments and encourage adherence to SHE standards.

  • Actively participate in SHE committees, networks, and training sessions to promote a culture of safety awareness and accident prevention.

You Bring:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or similar discipline, master’s degree preferred.

  • 3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Working knowledge of Environmental Management Systems for ISO 14001

  • CHMM or REM certification and a working knowledge of SHE regulations (29 CFR 1910, 29 CFR 1926, 40 CFR, 49 CFR) is preferred.

  • Industry certifications strongly preferred (CSP, CHMM, DOT)

  • Good knowledge of US OSHA regulations as they relate to general industry, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards, European Union (EU) regulations, US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)

  • Good knowledge of International Chemical Regulations (TSCA, GHS, REACH) regulations is desired.

  • Previous Experience in Hazardous Materials management (DOT, RCRA).

  • Supplemental training to obtain certification for transportation shipments of hazardous materials via truck, air, or sea.
