Join our team as a Senior Manager of Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) and take the lead in shaping a safer, healthier, and more sustainable future at our dsm-firmenich manufacturing facility in Saint Louis, MO. In this pivotal role, you will oversee and enhance our SHE programs, driving continuous improvement across all operations. You'll be instrumental in managing SHE initiatives throughout the entire site, including offices and laboratories, ensuring a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. Responsibilities:
- Support and enhance safety programs through hands-on assistance, program implementation, training, and organizing monthly meetings and inspections.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OSHA, and FSSC 22000, while implementing dsm-firmenich’s SHE Policies. Lead site SHE-S audits and environmental programs for ongoing improvement.
- Oversee regulatory compliance for hazardous materials, waste management, wastewater, and DOT regulations, engaging with relevant authorities as needed.
- Track and analyze injury and safety data to identify trends, report metrics to management, and propose solutions for improvement.
- Promote a safety culture in manufacturing, office, and lab settings, supporting line management in safety initiatives.
- Provide guidance on safe work permitting processes (e.g., hot work, lock-out/tag-out, work at height, ergonomics), including writing permits and auditing related documentation.

You bring:
- BS/BA/MS in a Scientific or Engineering discipline preferred; degrees in Safety, Safety Engineering, or Industrial Hygiene are ideal. Active safety certifications (CHMM, ASP, CSP) preferred.
- 5 years of SHE experience impacting employee health and safety, including managing laboratory operations.
- In-depth knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and DOT regulations, with a proven track record in compliance auditing.
- Hands-on experience in health, safety, and environmental practices, including lockout-tagout, risk assessments, and safety audits, with a history of building strong relationships across all levels of personnel.
- Proficient in conveying safety and environmental processes through various platforms, with experience in Microsoft Office tools for documentation and training presentations.
- Able to support 24/7 emergency responses related to facility operations and capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
