Quality Control Specialist

Location: St. Louis, MO, US

 

The QC Tech is responsible to sample, test, and report dispositions of all incoming raw materials and finished products, support production processes, control inventory of supplies, maintain equipment, maintain and keep current specification sheets, MSDS, Kosher certifications, and nutrient information sheets on all raw materials and finished products.

 

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Sample and test raw materials and approve/reject based upon the results.  If reject, let Production and Purchasing know immediately.  Also, report the reject in writing to Purchasing.
  • Retest raw materials when needed and approve/reject based upon the results. If reject, let Production and Purchasing know immediately. Also, report the reject in writing to Purchasing.
  • Obtain and maintain Kosher certifications, specification sheets, MSDS, nutrient information, allergen claims for raw materials, and certificates of analysis when required by specifications.
  • Test finished products and approve/reject based upon the results. If reject, determine if batch can be salvaged or not. If it can be salvaged, inform Production what can be done to salvage the batch. If it cannot be salvaged, inform Production how to dispose of the batch in writing.
  • Create and write procedures, both testing and QC policies analysis. Train new employees in the testing and procedures of the QC lab.  Utilize HACCP philosophy and procedures in everyday work routine.  Be able to participate in sensory training and sensory analysis
  • Ensure adherence to all management systems including, ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 and FSSC 22000, with an understanding of Firmenich’s Quality and Environmental Policies and Procedures.  Responsible that these policies and procedures are implemented throughout the organization and all related activities under the position’s jurisdiction.

You bring

  • A bachelor’s degree in food science, biology, or chemistry is required.  At the discretion of management, the degree requirement may be waived if there is sufficient knowledge and experience.
  • Incumbents must possess good communication skills and basic PC knowledge (including MS Word and MS Excel). 
  • Must be able to work independently, relying on oral or written instructions.
  • Must be able to solve routine problems and capable of doing test development.

 

The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Hourly range $26.00-$27.00.
