Location: Midrand, South Africa

 

At dsm-firmenich, Midrand, South Africa, we are looking for an Inventory Planner for our Taste business.

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the inventory performance at your site and supporting the operational planning team when necessary. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to improve inventory health, as well as reduce obsolescence risks and physical losses. As our Inventory Planner you will provide analytical insights into inventory performance opportunities.

 

Your key responsibilities:

  • Manage the inventory for our Midrand site with focus on mitigating and/ or depleting nonvalue added inventory and increasing inventory health.
  • Lead Inventory Losses process and actions with local teams (Purchasing, Production, Quality, Operations, and Commercial), propose initiatives to reduce losses and track their effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with materials and capacity planning teams on inventory monitoring routines to proactively identify and mitigate overstocks and shortages over next 6 months horizon.
  • Collaborate with materials and capacity planning teams on planning parameters review to ensure the effective balance between service, cost and inventory.
  • Prepare and issue inventory reports and ad hoc analysis for inventory related matters.
  • Analyse and release planned orders for raw materials and schedule production to assure back up for materials and capacity planning teams when needed.

You bring:

  • University degree or equivalent in Engineer, Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, or Economics
  • 2-3 years of experience in supply chain, planning and/ or inventory management
  • Collaborative team player, action-oriented and results-driven.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP Software experience (SAP)
  • Advance Planning Solutions experience is a plus (Kinaxis).
  • Financial/ accounting basics would be an advantage
