As a Regulatory Affairs Manager within the North America region of DSM Nutritional Products (DNP), you will be part of a cross-functional team, based in Parsippany, NJ. The activities linked to the position are highly complex due to the dynamics of the North American market and changing regulatory environments. Your responsibility will encompass the integration of the Marketing and Sales plans into your regulatory strategy program and its global roll out in cooperation with the regional teams. You will be part of a highly professional and motivated team.


Regulatory Affairs Manager, North America –Parsippany, NJ



In the role of Regulatory Affairs Manager, North America (NA), you will:

  • Support the joint efforts for the development of the North American region to guarantee market clearance for the different business units such as Food & Beverage and Health Nutrition & Care portfolio, including premixes.
  • Manage product safety dossier preparation for product approval in collaboration with R&D, product and project management, and regional regulatory affairs team of DSM Nutritional Products (DNP). Coordinate the submission of dossiers to the regional authorities and follow up on the approval process.
  • Work with Product Management and production sites to ensure regulatory compliance of DNP products.
  • Monitor and report modification of the changing regulatory framework and environment and assess their impact on the business.
  • Lead the development of DSM opinions in the area of Regulatory Affairs.
  • Develop regulatory assessments for DSM product portfolio and premixes.
  • Support NA customer queries related to DSM products and sites in close cooperation with internal functions.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of registration status & planning platforms.
  • Contribute to the NA Regulatory Affairs team performance by taking leadership in development and maintenance of efficient DSM RA tools and processes.
  • Support issue management related to product quality, e.g., impurity complaints, in close cooperation with all internal functions (e.g., QA, Marketing & Sales, Product Management) and represent North American regulatory affairs.
  • Impact regional representation, networking and shaping activities, where applicable.
  • Participate in industry associations as required to support DSM products and business interests.

What we look for in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science (Food Chemistry, Food Technology, Food Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or Natural Sciences; Public Health & Life Sciences)
  • 5 years or more experience in Regulatory Affairs and/or Quality Management in relation to food, beverages, premix, dietary supplements and/or active pharmaceutical products.
  • In depth understanding of US FDA, Health Canada, CFIA regulatory requirements (GRAS, NDI, Novel Foods).
  • In-depth interdisciplinary knowledge in the areas of analytics, chemistry and production process, Biology and Toxicology
  • Ability to influence as well as balance and reconcile different opinions
  • Strategic and solutions-oriented approach
