The Challenge
The premix process engineering role provides support on continuous improvement and improve plant projects. The role also supports Production, SHEQ, efficiency improvements and capital projects.


The Position

  • Run small capital projects including planning, contracting, commercialization, and hand-off to operations at completion.
  • •Aid operations with the production of existing and new products.  Interact with production personnel to trouble shoot and optimize processes to meet quality standards and plant throughput goals. 
  • Investigate to determine corrective actions for addressing internal and external complaints.  
  • Monitor and optimize production processes, investigate process discrepancies, propose and test potential solutions.  Set up, plan, execute and analyze experiments, report results, and provide recommendations.  Risk evaluations on proposed changes (safety and business) for plant process changes.
  • Review peer results of experiments against objectives/targets, supporting root cause analysis of plant issues, customer complaints and R&D scale up testing.
  • Provide in-house technical support for the plant through Management of Change (MOC) review process, Machinery Safety Assessments (MSA), HAZOP, PSA and other related functions as
  • Follow Design Control and Risk Management procedures.
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives using Lean 6-Sigma approaches and techniques to identify and execute initiatives within site safety, waste, quality, and productivity to streamline processes.  
  • Execute work within the applicable DSM, GMP, State, Local and Government requirements.
  • Complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Must be willing to work other shifts when needed.

The Ideal

  • Understanding of process data management.  Proficient use of MS Office programs, especially Excel, statistical analysis, and some project management.  Proficient writing skills for validation protocols and project documentation.  Knowledge of machinery and process systems with  expertise working with Engineering & Quality tools.  
  • Good analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills to choose review all options and for best solutions to solve problems as decisions may have major implications.  
  • Personal characteristics - Must be capable of working with all levels of coworkers on projects and the ability to incorporate their efficiency, ergonomic, and safety concerns into proposed solutions and executed projects.  Need to possess effective time management skills with ability at multitasking and troubleshoot.  
  • Must be capable of thinking and working independently with minimal direction from area and/or other project leadership.  Be an individual focused on accuracy, a detail orientation, initiative to multi-task with deadlines, flexible can-do attitude and ability to adjust workload to meet varying schedules.  
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Engineering – preference in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial from an accredited university and 1 - 3 years’ experience.  
  • Experience or knowledge in LSS, 5S, equipment reliability preferred.
