The Challenge

Perform all production activities and operate production equipment in accordance to the plant capacity and in conformity with SHE requirements, SOP’s, quality standards and production schedules.  Position is responsible for operating the process with minimal supervision; analyzing samples and making process decisions; performing and scheduling minor maintenance repairs. 

The Position

  • Work with respect to SHE requirements and perform duties in a SHE (Safety, Health, Environment) responsible manner including but not limited to following safety rules, SOP’s and acting to minimize waste.
  • Follow work schedules and attendance guidelines, and participate in HR procedures applicable (appraisal, training, communication meetings…)
  • Handle raw materials from receiving to the production storage area to the plant area and add them into the process reactors according to the SOP or Production Supervisor instruction.
  • Monitor equipment and process parameters, and take actions necessary to maintain process in control
  • Record process parameters in the batch records according to the time schedule and sign the batch sheet
  • Follow SOP’s for the production process including all SHE related procedures
  • Call and inform the production supervisor in case of deviation or concern
  • Take samples, analyze using HPLC and interpret results and make process decisions when relevant
  • Display and promote positive safety behaviors at all times, use proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment and procedures to ensure that self and others go home safe each day; that area and equipment operate at highest safety levels; that all people in area (maintenance, quality, visitors, contractors, etc.) comply with safety directives and keep area neat and clean.
  • Ensures all SHE related training is current and up to date.
  • Awareness and following of all DSM Life Saving Rules.
  • Ensures all accidents are reported in a timely manner.
  • Perform minor maintenance tasks in accordance with the appropriate SHE guidelines and using SOP’s where applicable and within individual competency
  • Train new operators on the working job if asked by the Production Supervisor
  • Supports plant and corporate initiatives as outlined in the manufacturing plan.  Follows the Manufex work processes.


The Ideal

  • High School diploma or equivalent 
  • 1-4 years of experience in production environment. 
  • Completion of a petrochemical or chemical operating course, or equivalent job experience
  • Experience in chemical or pharmaceutical plant preferred with knowledge of process and personal safety.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, rotating shifts, and coordinate multiple resources without direct supervision. 
  • Ability to operate personal computers; familiar with spreadsheets and word documents.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and move 55 gallon drums using a drum cart.
