Location – several locations possible for this position including, but not limited to Maastricht, Netherlands and Geneva or Kaiseraugst, Switzerland.

dsm-firmenich is organized across multiple business units (P&B, TTH, HNC), with SHE and Security competences centralized under Group Operational Excellence (GOE). The regional SHE & Security department supports all business functions in the region, ensuring that occupational safety, process safety, occupational health and environment are integrated into the strategic and operational activities.

The Regional Process safety manager will be instrumental in maintaining dsm-firmenich's competitive edge while safeguarding people and asset and ensuring compliance.

 

This position requires 30-40% traveling in EMEA region.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Provide process safety leadership and knowledge proximity within the cultural context of the region.
  • Drive, execute and coordinate the implementation of the process safety group strategy in collaboration with the sites, the Regional SHE lead and the Business Unit SHE Leads.
  • Co-own the roadmap of the functional development of the process safety capabilities in the region and at site level.
  • Drive cross site learning and SHE improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate process safety incident management and investigation,
  • Share and communicate incident lessons in order to maximize learning and prevent recurrence.

You Bring:

  • University degree (MSc) in process safety OR University degree (MSc) in a technical filed: e.g.:  physics, mechanical or chemical engineering fields.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in process safety, preferably in chemical or pharmaceutical industries.
  • Recognized international expertise in Explosion risk assessment (inc. ATEX) and HAZOP.
  • Strong leadership and stakeholder management capabilities to implement and ensure compliance with standards.
  • In-depth understanding of process safety requirements and best practices. Knowledge must be maintained up to date over time.
  • Excellent ability to adapt communication styles to varying site capabilities, driving effective engagement and improvement.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills, empowering local teams through targeted training.
  • Skilled at fostering regional and global collaboration, driving culture change, and embedding proactive risk management.
  • Fluent in English, French is an asset.
