Software and Hardware Asset Manager (SAM & HAM), will play a role in shaping and governing the enterprise asset landscape by ensuring license compliance, cost optimization, lifecycle transparency, and data integrity. Working closely with CMDB, SAM, and HAM stakeholders, you manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of software and hardware assets, leveraging ServiceNow to drive automation, insight‑driven decisions, and operational maturity.This role provides a strong opportunity to influence global asset governance, strengthen financial and contractual control, and deliver measurable value through smarter asset utilization and lifecycle optimization.

Your Key Responsibilities: 

 

 

Strategic Evolution & Governance

  • Contribute to the evolution of SAM and HAM capabilities, defining standards, controls, and governance models to improve compliance, cost efficiency, and lifecycle transparency.
  • Propose new capabilities, tooling enhancements, and automation opportunities to strengthen asset governance and maturity.

Software Asset Management (SAM)

  • Govern the full lifecycle of software assets, from demand and entitlement to deployment, optimization, and retirement.
  • Ensure accurate entitlement management, effective license compliance, and alignment with vendor licensing models.
  • Support Effective License Position (ELP) analysis and drive optimization initiatives to reduce risk and overspend.

Hardware Asset Management (HAM)

  • Manage the end to end lifecycle of hardware assets, from procurement and deployment to refresh, reuse, and disposal.
  • Ensure traceability, financial alignment, and compliance across asset records, contracts, and operational usage.
  • Strengthen asset visibility across suppliers and service towers within a SIAM model.

CMDB Enablement & Data Integrity

  • Ensure hardware and software assets are accurately represented in the CMDB, with correct relationships, classifications, and lifecycle status.
  • Drive data quality standards, audits, and continuous improvement to support reliable reporting and decision making.

Process Optimization & Controls

  • Continuously improve SAM and HAM processes, standards, and controls, ensuring global consistency and ITIL aligned practices.
  • Embed asset governance into operational, financial, and supplier management processes.
  • Tooling, Automation & AI Enablement
  • Leverage ServiceNow SAM Pro, HAM Pro, and CMDB capabilities to automate discovery, lifecycle workflows, and compliance reporting.
  • Identify and apply automation and AI driven insights to improve asset accuracy, reduce manual effort, and enhance transparency.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Procurement, Finance, IT Operations, Service Owners, and Suppliers to align contracts, entitlements, deployments, and actual usage.
  • Support financial transparency across CapEx, OpEx, chargeback, and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Training, Guidance & Adoption
  • Provide clear guidance, documentation, and training on SAM and HAM processes, tools, and governance to stakeholders and operational teams.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for asset management practices across the organization.

You Bring

 

  • Minimum 10-12 years of experience in Configuration, Hardware Asset Management (HAM), Software Asset Management (SAM) within medium or large organizations
  • Hands-on experience with ServiceNow and discovery tools; ServiceNow certifications are valued.Solid understanding of ITIL framework; ITIL4 certification preferred.
  • Experience with Flexera or ServiceNow Software Asset Management Professional (SAM Pro) is a plus.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, troubleshoot inconsistencies, and propose effective improvements.
  • Good stakeholder management skills and the ability to work across teams, countries, and cultures in a global operating model. Proactive, structured, and detail-oriented professional with a passion for governance, data quality, and continuous improvement.
  • A forward‑looking mindset in applying automation and AI capabilities (e.g., workflow automation, discovery automation, AIOps insights) to enhance data quality, streamline processes, and improve operational efficiency.
