Senior Product Safety Manager (m/f/d)

As Senior Product Stewardship Manager for the Animal Nutrition & Health (ANH) business of dsm-firmenich, you will ensure safety, compliance, and sustainability across a diverse portfolio — including Premix, Performance Solutions, Vitamins, and Aroma Ingredients. You’ll translate complex regulations into clear, actionable guidance that supports innovation and builds stakeholder trust.

In this senior cross-functional role, you’ll advise R&D, operations, regulatory, and commercial teams on product safety strategy while driving continuous improvement. With a strong focus on lean processes and digital solutions, you’ll help shape future-ready systems that embed safety and transparency at the core of our business. Next to this, you lead a global expert team of 3-4 direct reports.

Your key responsibilities

Develop and implement product stewardship and chemical safety strategies, aligning with global regulations (e.g. REACH, CLP, GHS, TSCA) and dsm-firmenich policy
Ensure all products comply with safety regulations through management of Safety Data Sheets (SDS, eSDS), classification & labeling, and Dangerous Goods handling
Regularly update and maintain product and substance data in SAP EHS, effectively translating scientific research into regulatory system outputs
Track global regulatory changes and translate them into risk management measures and implementation plans
Lead a team of experts in product safety and dangerous goods, offering guidance and mentorship
Serve as an internal subject matter expert, representing dsm-firmenich externally and guiding internal teams on product safety and stewardship best practices

You bring

Master’s or PhD degree in Chemistry, Toxicology, Industrial Hygiene, or related life science field with 8+ years of relevant experience in product stewardship or chemical regulatory compliance
Solid knowledge of chemical legislation (EU CLP, REACH, GHS UN, DG transport) and how to operationalize it in global business settings
Proven expertise in SAP EHS or equivalent systems, including SDS authoring and regulatory content management
Strong analytical skills, scientific rigor, and a pragmatic mindset to translate complex rules into feasible solutions
Skilled in team leadership, project management, and cross-functional stakeholder engagement across business and regulatory functions
Experience in applying lean thinking or continuous improvement approaches to optimize ways of working
Fluent in English; German or other languages are an advantage
