The Challenge:


As a Mechanical Engineer / Process Engineer within our R&D Formulation Center for Animal Nutrition and Health (ANH) and Human Nutrition and Health (HNH) business unit in Kaiseraugst, you will focus on the design of formulation equipment and processes aiming at product form development in MiniPlant-scale with a dynamic team in a modern and creative environment. You will work specifically in the field of carotenoids and other health ingredients for animal and human nutrition and health products. In this position, you will work in multidisciplinary project teams offering the great opportunity to deepen your expertise in designing formulation equipment and processes critical to the ongoing success of the carotenoid business.


The Position:


  • Support to design, adapt and implement state-of-the-art formulation equipment and processes such as micronization technologies (e.g. high-pressure homogenizer, rotor-stator) and evaporators (e.g. thin-film evaporator) in the low Liter (MiniPlant)-scale.
  • Contribute to prepare a variety of engineering deliverables (Feasibility Design; Conceptual Design including P&IDs, schematics, technical specifications; Basic & Detailed Design; Engineering, Procurement & Construction Milestones).
  • Participate in internal design reviews as well as in reviews with extern suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Contribute to process & machine safety assessments (e.g. HAZOP).


The Ideal:


  • Degree in engineering discipline such as mechanical engineering, process engineering, chemical engineering or comparable studies.
  • 1+ years of professional or internship hands-on experience with mechanical-related or process design-related projects, ideally hands-on experience with formulation technologies (e.g. dispersing, emulsifying, drying) and equipment (e.g. high-pressure pumps, evaporators).
  • Knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to assigned engineering discipline (e.g. VDI, ISO, DIN).
  • Experiences with process control systems (e.g. Siemens PCS7, LabView).
  • Very good command of German and English (oral and writing) mandatory.
  • Strong passion for engineering, strong team player with good written and oral communication skills in a multinational, fast-paced matrix R&D organization.
