The Challenge:
This position will be utilized in Life Protection operating the Tape facility when the market dictates a need for product. This is a new product and business and will require the individual to be flexible. The selected candidate may be required to work several different shifts in other areas of the plant including (UD and Fiber). 


The Position:

To set up, operate, adjust and clean all equipment required to produce Tape in accordance to work instructions and standard operating procedures.  Take samples and determine properties of the produced intermediate and finished products.  Maintain records of raw materials and the finished product in the appropriate system.  Inspect and pack finished product.  Move, measure, maintain inventory and store raw, intermediate and finished products.  Assist in the training, guidance and leadership of other team members.

  • Abides by DSM Dyneema LLC and DSM procedures/policies regarding security, inclusive of:  employee security agreements; use of non-disclosure agreements with outside parties; control of DSM Dyneema LLC intellectual property limited to a “need to know” only basis; no unauthorized use of cell phones, cameras, computers or DSM property; reporting security threats and incidents; proper control of DSM property and keys.
  • Responsible for compliance with relevant laws, regulatory requirements, recipes, SOP’s, and other related documentation and activities.  Ensures Company guidelines related to company policies relating to quality, safety, housekeeping and cost effectiveness are met.
  • Set up, operate, adjust and clean all equipment required for production accordance to work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner while maintaining goals of the business. 
  • Take samples to test and determines properties of the produced products. Prepares samples for offline quality checks. Perform off-line tests.  Supply and maintain inventory of components/supplies as needed. 
  • Correct process conditions with given limits, to maintain desired results. Issue maintenance tickets for maintenance for major repair work.  Performs intermediate mechanical repair work when needed. Performs preventative maintenance including filter changes.
  • Performs in-process and off-line quality checks as required.  Demonstrates a commitment to quality by ensuring all test and product information/documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Maintain records of the used raw materials and the produced products in the appropriate computer system. Enters data about components, intermediate and finished products is entered in the appropriate tracking system. Maintain accurate records.
  • Move, measure, maintain inventory and store raw, intermediate and finished products. Receives stores, handles and delivers raw materials and finished products as required or directed.  Utilize standard material handling equipment.  Operate rider and/or walk for truck and overhead crane.
  • Utilize good judgment in making critical decisions on product quality, equipment functionality, safety and other related activities.  
  • Identifies problems related to equipment, work orders, log books, set-ups and other related activities and recommends ways to solve. Makes suggestions regarding product quality, test set-up, safety precautions, and work improvements inform leadership of any problems that may impair the quality of the product, packaging components, work efficiency and/or safety.
  • Maintain annual training requirements on hazardous waste by reviewing DYNPRO SHE DYN 653 and general awareness presentation.  Specific job holders will complete more detailed training as well.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


The Ideal:

  • High school diploma 
  • At least 3 year of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably in a Textile production environment and/or equivalent military technical experience or training.
  • Knowledge of appropriate safety procedures
  • Knowledge of changeovers/cleaning/set-up, work instructions
  • Ability to perform mathematical computation; problem solving. 
  • Problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
  • Organize, schedule and follow-up on activities.
  • Creativity and initiative.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to operate forklift and overhead cranes.
