The site trainer will focus on improving business performance of Manufacturing Operations through increasing and maintaining employees’ skill sets. This position has the responsibility to organize, execute, evaluate, and sustain training for site operations and supporting personnel; including involvement in the selection process and coordination of on-boarding of new employees, development of training programs for technical competency development, and promoting, teaching and driving COA and DICI and related improvement initiatives.


What can you expect in your work? 


You’ll be responsible:

  • Display & promote positive SHE behaviors at all times in accordance with site policies and DSM SHE behavior expectations. 
  • Work proactively with Quality, Operations, Maintenance, SHE, Engineering and Site Leadership to identify training needs, implement solutions and ensure compliance with Safety, Quality and COA and department requirements.
  • Plans, organizes and conducts new employee onboarding and training facilitation, along with periodic competency assessments according to DSM Operational Requirements.
  • Develops training materials and programs for:
    • Job content knowledge for operators & operations support teams
    • Foundational training in DICI, LSS and Teamwork principles across both sites.
  • Improves & sustains overall training system:
    • Facilitate/create area specific 30-60-90 day training plans, or designated time frames
    • Re-defining operator job positions and associated training requirements to make training plans relevant to their actual activities 
    • Develop updated training modules, including content-based quizzes for training
    • Utilize and train on digital tools.
  • Organize and execute Supports or leads continuous improvement activities when not on a production assignment.  
  • Supports updates of production documentation (SOP’s, JSA, PSA, etc.).
  • Fills the role of DICI site trainer.
  • Conduct  candidate interviews and completes site tours as needed. Provide feedback in the selection process.
  • Provides training to employees on site within all areas; both soft and hard skills. 
  • Identifies performance gaps and under minimal supervision designs interventions to address those gaps.

What we like to see in your experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six-Sigma principles and DSM DICI concepts
  • At least 5 years experience in manufacturing operations within a strong SHE culture and systems.

  • Training - Production Environment: 3 years 

  • Moderate/Advanced MS Office Skills: 2 years 

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate

  • Strong interpersonal skills – ability to gather insights from people at various levels of the organization to identify needs.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work independently and as part of a team to accomplish goals 

  • Ability and willingness to work overtime and flexible schedule as needed
