The Challenge

The Production Assistant Lead Operator Fermentation is ultimately responsible Responsible for communication from shift to shift by preparing, executing, and follow-up on shift exchange. Responsible to allocate task to team members, support shift lead and supervisor with performance related reporting including visual management 8-24 hours, support shift lead and supervisor with shift performance in terms of SHE, Quality, Delivery and cost for 8-24 hours and serve as back-up of lead/supervisor.

Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Duties and Responsibilities

  • Displays and promotes positive safety behaviors at all times; uses proper personal protective protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment and procedures that ensure self and others go home safe each day. Assures that area and equipment operate to highest safety levels, that all people in area (maintenance, quality, visitors, contractors
  • Aware of and follows all DSM Life Saving Rules
  • Acts in a way that safety awareness and accident prevention are considered in performing all tasks.
  • Maintain the standards of cleanliness and an organized work environment

 

Additional Key Areas of Accountability/Responsibility

  • Support leading the shift team to create intermediate and finished goods ensuring compliance to DSM policies, SOP’s, cGMP’s, and all SHE requirements.
  • Support driving day-to-day operation in a safe manner by understanding all ongoing activities (including maintenance, projects, etc.) to ensure meeting the 8-24 hr performance goals
  • Determine priorities, assign tasks and instruct teams about actions to be taken, including start-up and stoppage of the process or part thereof.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate communication towards management, within the shift, to other shifts and other stakeholders
  • Actively supports the continuous improvement journey on the shift
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and responds to deviations in process, product, equipment, and performance variations
  • Utilizes SAP to complete timely and accurate transactions
  • Acts in such a way that HACCP awareness and deviations prevention are considered in performing all tasks.
  • Coordinates the onboarding training documentation for new employees
  • Supports OEE, loss allocation and weekly performance input/output to optimize resources.
  • Supports to have up-to-date production documentation available (SOP’s, JSA, PSA, etc.)
  • Gives permission to start maintenance activities to ensure safe execution of work and limited interruption to production performance.
  • Supports and drives for documentation and sanitation completeness on the shift.

 

The Ideal

  • High school diploma or equivalent AND 2 years site production experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Knowledge to perform responsibilities with minimal guidance
  • Fork lift driver certification
  • Proficiency in basic IT tools (e.g. MS office)
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of assigned duties
