Senior Automation Engineer - Freeport, TX - On-Site

 

The Freeport, TX site produces Betacarotene and fulfills approximately 60-70% of the synthetic Betacarotene demand, worldwide.  Customers for the Freeport site are primarily internal DSM plants, which further formulate the products to higher-value forms for sale to external customers.

 

You’ll be responsible to:

  • Maintain and Troubleshoot both hardware and software for the site process automation systems including DCS, PLC, HMI, Data Historian.
  • Develop and execute long-term master plans to ensure automation systems are migrated to next generation hardware/software as needed.
  • Provide off-hours support for assisting operations and maintenance personnel with automation issues in order to keep the plant running.
  • Develop and implement process control strategy improvements.
  • Manage small projects related to automation according to the Improve Plant/Small Project work processes. (Includes Scoping, Planning, Execution, Control, and Documentation)
  • Involved in and assists in other projects that include Automation scope to ensure they are implemented following the long term Master plans for automation systems
  • Co-ordinate with and integrate corporate Control System requirements into existing systems and future development. 
  • Develop and maintain documentation of automation systems and control logic in a professional manner.
  • Perform timely backups of systems and maintain an organized and secure backup library.
  • Participate in risk assessments like PHA, PHR, FMEA, RCA, HAZOP as process automation expert 
  • Provide SIL–classification and SIL–verification support.
  • Aware of and follows all DSM Key Security Behaviors.

 

What we look for in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or similar engineering degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience
  • In-depth knowledge in DCS process control systems.
  • Basic knowledge of instrumentation and electrical equipment
  • Basic Knowledge of PLC control systems.
  • Knowledge of FMEA, RCA, tools and application

 

What we like to see in your experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in programming and maintaining DCS process control system required in chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing or engineering required. 
  • ABB Harmony programming
  • Emerson DeltaV programming
  • OSIsoft PI support
  • Management of IT/Process control systems hardware.
  • PLC programming.
