Technical Account Manager (Dairy Sales) Midwest/Northeast US - Home Based

The Challenge:

As a Technical Account Manager with the Dairy Team, a Division of the Dairy, Baking, and Beverage (DB&B) Unit, you will be a key player in driving our Cheese Cultures, Enzymes, and Protection solution sales. The position will cover the Midwest and Northeast areas of the US working with both local, regional, and North American accounts. You will report directly to the Regional Sales Manager for NA Cheese.


The Position:

  • Have a thorough understanding of DSM’s product range of ingredients for the Cheese industry from a commercial point of view.
  • Technical understanding of the portfolio, the market, and the industry.
  • Support sales through commercial planning and strategy as well as supporting technical advice, training, and customer trials.
  • Externally orientated and keen to apply our cultures, enzymes, and protection ingredients in line with customer requirements.
  • Contribute to the innovation process with your industry insights and expertise and you are continually assisting the development of our application knowledge into Cheese production.
  • Should be able to provide technical / application presentations to all accounts, including global key accounts. Your main target area is Cheese manufacturers.


The Ideal:

  • Degree in Food Technology or Biological Sciences and have an interest in biotechnology.
  • Preferably have industry experience of 5 to 10 years of sales or technical support and a proven track record in the Cheese industry.
  • Strong technical skills and in-depth knowledge of the Cheese Production industry and preferably you will have practical experience with cultures, enzymes, and protection ingredients.
  • Be at home with customers, happy to give technical presentations and training and keen to travel.
  • Enjoy working with customers and can communicate at all levels and can tailor complex technical and commercial information into clear messages for all commercial audiences, understanding and executing for needs and technical understanding, while being equally home in a scientific setting.
  • Candidate must be located near a major airport
  • Travel 50-60%
