We are seeking a Strategic Sourcing Lead in our Biomedical HQ in Exton, PA. 


The Challenge

Sourcing of direct materials and services for the US Operations and managing the related suppliers for running business and (new) innovation projects in order to reach the business objectives and following the annual purchasing plan. 


The Position

  • Support the development and implementation of the annual Purchasing plan for US Operations.
  • Together with the Sourcing team, further strengthen the processes for supplier evaluation and selection, negotiation and contracting, performance management, and relation management.
  • Represent Sourcing in Innovation projects in order to lead the respective activities needed to reach project milestones and goals.
  • Evaluate and renew supply contracts by identifying and prioritizing opportunities for reduction of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), while ensuring a smooth implementation of new suppliers and supply contracts in the organization.
  • Develop and implement sourcing activities for the US Operations in line with the targets set in the annual Purchasing plan and based on internal and external market and spend analysis.
  • Make sure the that the right suppliers and contracts are in place with the required performance at external partners, together with the Supplier Quality Assurance group, to enable timely purchase of items by the colleagues in the Purchasing group.
  • Identify and mitigate supply/business risks caused by e.g. single source positions or poor supplier’s performance.
  • Perform key account management for identified important suppliers by developing and managing the relationship with these suppliers and tracking their performance. 


The Ideal

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Commerce/Procurement, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or SCM related field.
  • Recognized qualification in Purchasing, ideally along with project management experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in Sourcing and Purchasing roles in a business-to-business environment, preferably including Biomedical or pharma industry.
  • SAP knowledge is a strong plus but would consider other ERP experience.
  • A drive to find Sourcing solutions in a complex and highly regulated environment, at the right quality and speed.
  • The capability to negotiate and agree good deals with possible new suppliers, often despite little buying power though high dependency.
  • Strong relationship management skills, with both internal and external stakeholders.
