Production Technician II -2nd Shift 

2nd shift: M-F 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM

The Challenge:
The Production Tech II - 2nd shift assists manufacturing personnel in a wide variety of operations primarily with prepping the equipment properly for production runs and adhereing to the Standard Operating procedures for product and safety compliance for the synthesis of DSM Biomedical products.


The Position

  • Responsible for cleaning all reactors, pressure pots, drums and other ancillary equipment that are needed for the synthesis of DSM Biomedical products. Provides sifting, packaging, extruding support as required.
  • Records the amounts of cleaning solvents used in the Material Log Sheet in the warehouse after cleaning.
  • Maintains a good housekeeping in the manufacturing area and equipment.
  • Maintains labor posting and timekeeping requirements in designated system on a daily basis.
  • Reports any observed unsafe equipment, condition or practice immediately to a supervisor, management or member of the Safety Committee.
  • Adheres to DSM Quality System procedures and the ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 standards.
  • Assists in the repair and preventative maintenance of manufacturing equipment.
  • Documents manufacturing operations following DSM quality system procedures.
  • As assigned and properly trained; perform a combination of tasks necessary to ensure hazardous materials are properly handled, classified and stored.  Perform duties necessary to characterize and profile waste in compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain good housekeeping at hazardous material storage areas and perform weekly inspections of these areas.
    Respond to spills of hazardous material as directed.


The Ideal

  • HS diploma or equivalent.
  • Requires knowledge of learned routines, procedures, practice and more complex skills.  Training in certain procedures or equipment required.
  • 2 or more years relevant experience in a chemical or industrial manufacturing facility/plant.
  • Experience with chemical safety and hygiene to support general manufacturing processes and demonstrated ability to learn, and work safely.
  • Good documentation and communication skills required and aptitude and ability to follow written technical instructions.
  • Ability to lift and handle weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Accustomed in using MS Word, Excel and Outlook
