The Challenge
Translates the Master Production Schedule (MPS) into the Detailed Production Schedule (DS), identifying needs for raw materials, packaging, capacity of assets and labor, intermediate products, and manufacturing supplies/consumables in very close cooperation with the manufacturing organization.  Ensures timely availability of all required materials required to execute on the detailed schedule by determining (dependent) requirements, comparing needs with available inventories and open purchase orders, and by initiating purchase requisitions for the Purchasing team.  Closely aligns with the Supply Chain Planners, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Purchasing team to identify changes and seek resolution.

 

The Position

  • Defines the optimum schedule and sequence of jobs to meet the demands of the MPS and optimizes lead times, inventory (OWC), and asset utilization.
  • Creates Process Orders in SAP and releases these periodically to manufacturing.
  • Supports the correct and accurate planning and scheduling processes are in place and reflected in SAP, by e.g. maintaining accurate material, manufacturing, and planning (master) data and defining propriate (safety) stock levels to balance security of supply and OWC.
  • Minimizes slow moving and obsolete stocks; ensures timely alignment with finance on reservation of possible future scrap items.
  • Ensures timely availability of all required materials required to execute on the detailed schedule by determining (dependent) requirements, comparing needs with available inventories and open purchase orders, and by initiating purchase requisitions for the Purchasing team.
  • Defines optimum target and safety stock levels for all raw materials, packaging items, and manufacturing supplies/consumables if appropriate.
  • Monitors and drives timely booking of goods movements (receipts, issues, scraps, and transfers) in SAP.
  • Maintains accurate inventory data and ensures inventories to remain within set boundaries.
  • Regularly checks planned versus actual usage, executes stock corrections and adjusts bills of materials if required.
  • Executes the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) run as frequent as needed to maintain an accurate DS.
  • Reviews, changes and confirms (proposed) purchase requisitions in SAP as input to the Purchasing team for further processing into purchase orders.
  • Closely aligns with the Supply Chain Planners, Manufacturing, Warehouse, and Sourcing team to identify changes and seek resolution.
  • Actively participates in the regular, multi-disciplinary planning meetings with the Supply Chain Planners, Manufacturing, and Purchasing to report and discuss progress and changes in supply, demand, or expected purchase receipts.
  • Assesses potential impact to the schedule and seeks resolution of issues in alignment with the involved functions.
  • Coordinates and leads efforts within operations that are needed to timely execute on the DS and deliver customer (rush) orders on time and in full.
  • Supports continuous improvement of processes and activities and driving functional excellence.

 

The Ideal

  • AA/BA Degree in Business and /or equivalent work experience in required field.
  • 1-5 years of experience in Supply Chain and/or Manufacturing Planning/Scheduling for manufacturing companies (Medical Device, Pharmaceutical or other highly regulated environment preferred).
  • Experience in operational Detailed Scheduling / Supply Chain Planning, knowledge of SCM and manufacturing related processes.
  • Must be detail-oriented, manage different activities and priorities at the same time,  and identify, resolve, or escalate problems in a timely manner.
  • MS Word, Excel and Outlook and SAP or other ERP systems. 
  • Affinity with Quality Management Systems, experience with quality standards applicable in the Biomedical market (ISO13485, cGMP, etc.) is a plus.
