The Challenge

Contribute to the definition of the financial policy, direction, and plan of the Business, support the execution of this policy and enable the realization of this plan by managing, monitoring and controlling the financial and accounting processes of the Business, in accordance with the strategy.  Financial Business Partner for the Innovation functional area, providing all managerial reporting, analyses and advise. Being the advocate for the corporate and DIC Finance & Accounting policies and the corporate requirements and guidelines.

 

The company’s strategy has an inherent challenge due to pressure on short-term performance versus objective of long-term strategic growth. The varieties of customers range from large customers to venture capitalists and are located all over the world.

 

 

The Position

  • Lead the process of business reporting and planning on short and long term for the Innovation functional area (e.g. budget process as well as quarterly and monthly reporting; developing of performance indicators and forecasting in order to improve business monitoring). Analyze variances versus budget/forecast.
  • Prepare and advise on financial forecasting of the Innovation functional area and continuously improve forecast accuracy.
  • Support pro-active portfolio management to trigger actions to enable the strategy and budget.
  • Frontline finance support in all innovation projects initiated (NPV calculations, Monte Carlo analysis, post mortem analysis).
  • Ensure finance and accounting support to enable the success of the Innovation functional area, in conjunction with the Finance Regions.
  • Maintaining and controlling an effective and efficient management reporting tool for the business including all relevant indicators (e.g. revenues, cost, profit, investments, working capital and cash flow).
  • Assist the Senior Finance Director DSM Biomedical with various exercises, such as coordinating the budget cycle, consolidating financial results and Gross Free Cash Flow analysis. 
  • Work closely together with other finance regions and coordinate the forecast and budgeting process.
  • Identify improvement opportunities, system or process related, propose solutions, collaborate with the relevant parties to implement.
  • Monitor the financial performance of the business and provide the management team correct and timely information required to make decisions.
  • Maintain and control an effective and efficient cost reporting in Innovation and R&D:
    • Reporting on Innovation project spend.
    • Assisting Project Managers with their project budgets and updates.

 

The Ideal

  • Bachelor and Master’s degree in Finance/Business economics or CPA preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in corporate finance and/or public accounting.
  • Demonstrate history of escalating roles and responsibilities.
  • Finance & Accounting knowledge, reporting, understanding of global processes, strong analytical skills.
  • Project Management and problem solving, able to quickly grasp new ideas, adaptable and confident.
