The Challenge
The role of the Site Continuous Improvement Leader is to execute onsite lean 6-sigma manufacturing strategy by identifying and implementing short, mid-term and long-term continuous improvement initiatives both technically and organizationally.  The successful candidate will have the ability to effectively manage multiple complex tasks across multiple functional areas ie. Production, maintenance, QA and site logistics.  You will be tasked with  planning and scheduling activities to routinely meet cost and schedule parameters. Change management is critical for the continued success . Passion/stamina for continuous improvement both organizationally and technically is essential. 


The Position
Key areas of accountability/responsibility:
•    Develop and continuously refine the lean 6 sigma manufacturing program throughout DSM Engineering Plastics (DEP) America.
•    Expand the 5S program. Own the program as a foundational program for all lean improvement activities.
•    Utilize DMAIC methods to close business performance gaps.
•    Measure, document, and communicate progress towards meeting objectives relayed to lean practices and programs.
•    Provide needed oversight and training in the area of lean manufacturing: philosophy, tools, techniques and continuous improvement practices.
•    Propose, plan and manage Kaizen events
•    Assist the Site Director through measuring and monitoring production activities, data analysis, trend identification and establishment of projects that drive continuous improvement.
•    Adhere to the DSM Life Savings Rules and all other site safety requirements.
•    Effectively pass on knowledge of lean and 6 sigma continuous improvements to others through classroom training and practical application.  Facilitate the establishment of High performance/Self Directing teams.


The Ideal
•    Bachelor’s degree in engineering or similar discipline, preferred; Equivalent work experience accepted in lieu of degree; 
•    Must have at least 3 years of experience in embedding lean and continuous improvement programs within a manufacturing environment
•    Six Sigma certification required;  Black belt certification a strong plus
•    Experience with polymer and compounding technology preferred
•    Must demonstrate the ability to analyze complex situations involving diverse data
•    High energy self -directed individual 
•    Able to challenge status quo
•    Must be able to successfully develop “value add ‘‘processes throughout the Operations organization down to the shop floor by relationship building/influencing all functions on the site.
