We are hiring a Production Superintendent
Location: Evansville, IN


The Production Superintendent role is focused on continuous improvement through positive leadership and development in the Production Department here at DSM. You’ll be responsible for:

  • Organizing and directing Production Operators in the execution of the production schedule with regards to SHE, Quality, and Efficiency expectations in order to establish, “first time right” behaviors, reduce scrap, reduce rework, and eliminate problems when processing rework
  • Supporting the use of continuous improvement methodology and tools such as DMAIC, 5S, Quick Changeover, RCA, and Visual Management
  • Providing training, coaching, and mentoring to support all continuous improvement initiatives and safety, quality, and process topics
  • Participating in daily production meetings where SHE deviations, quality concerns, and production losses are discussed and reporting breakdowns in the daily meeting to provide a preliminary fault diagnosis and resolution
  • Signing off on maintenance work orders as the area representative and completing risk assessment procedures prior to the beginning of maintenance operations
  • Maintaining KOP (key operating parameters) in the operating window as defined in SOP’s and diagnosing KOP deviations and provide corrective actions
  • Participating in the evaluation and alteration of SOP’s
  • Providing Root Cause Analysis for failures in equipment processes, procedures, training aspects, and/or any incidents
  • Participating in the hiring process of production personnel
  • Ensuring effective employee relations in a union environment, including aiding with problem resolution

What we like to see in your experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred + 5 years management experience
  • OR 5+ years of applicable manufacturing management experience + 2 years of engineering plastics compounding experience
  • Working knowledge of statistical techniques and computer systems—including SAP—for the purpose of analysis and reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, etc.) required
  • Experience with Delta V preferred
  • Supervision of employees including hiring, training and development, retention, performance review, and discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to lead others to meet desired goals
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs repeatedly throughout a shift
