The Director, Business Ethics & Investigations plays a pivotal role in strengthening the organization’s culture of integrity, accountability, and transparency. The role is accountable for the global dsm-firmenich whistleblowing and investigations framework, ensuring concerns are raised safely, investigated fairly, and resolved consistently—without retaliation.

 

Your key responsibilities

  • Whistleblowing (Speak Up) & Ethics Framework
    Own and continuously improve the global whistleblowing and non-retaliation framework, ensuring trusted reporting, legal compliance, and consistent governance.
  • Investigations Leadership
    Lead and oversee complex, high-risk, and cross-border investigations to ensure objective, fair, and timely outcomes.
  • Fraud & Forensic Investigations
    Provide senior oversight and expertise for fraud, financial misconduct, corruption, and data-related investigations, including use of forensic capabilities.
  • Learning, Insights & Continuous Improvement
    Leverage investigation and fraud case data to identify trends and root causes, and translate insights into targeted training, capability building, and preventive actions that strengthen ethical decision-making and program effectiveness
  • Governance, Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Provide clear reporting and trusted advisory support to senior leadership, Ethics Committees, and auditors on ethics, investigations, and fraud matters.
  • Business Ethics Program & CoBE Contribution
    Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of the Business Ethics program and Code of Business Ethics (CoBE) through cross-functional collaboration.

You bring 

  • You bring 10+ years of experience in Ethics & Compliance within multinational organizations (B2B/B2C), including leading global programs, managing teams, and partnering closely with senior leaders on high risk, sensitive matters in complex regulatory environments.
  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree is strongly preferred) in law, business, compliance, finance, or a related field; complemented by recognized professional certifications such as CCEP I, CCO, CFCS, CFE, CRCMP, demonstrating advanced investigative methodologies, effective use of emerging technologies (AI), and a strong commitment to continuous development.
  • Ethical leadership you live every day – You act with integrity, discretion, and accountability, and you model the behaviors that build trust and credibility.
  • Confidence in leading investigations – You bring hands-on experience conducting and overseeing sensitive investigations, applying sound judgment, rigor, and fairness, while safeguarding confidentiality, independence, and procedural integrity.
  • Curiosity and improvement mindset – You question the status quo, look for smarter and more sustainable ways to strengthen ethics, investigations, and fraud prevention.
  • Insight through analysis – You use data, trends, and professional judgment to identify risks, spot patterns, and translate insights into practical, enterprise level enhancements.
  • Clear, influential communication – You can explain complex issues and investigation outcomes clearly and calmly, even in high-stakes situations.
  • A collaborative, global approach – You work effectively across functions, cultures, and geographies, uniting stakeholders around shared values and ethical outcomes.
