Job Title: Senior Technician, Analytical Sciences (Biochemical Analysis & Characterization)
City, Country, Delft, The Netherlands
Join our science & research team as a Senior Technician working side by side with other technicians and scientists in the field of Analytical Sciences. Our team develops and executes (high throughput) biochemical analytical methods for the characterization of a broad variety of enzymes employing state-of-the-art technologies. We use innovative applications of high-end technologies like NMR and MS for in-depth understanding of enzyme activities both in vitro and under application conditions.
Your key responsibilities
- Independently conduct enzyme activity assays in an accurate manner according to defined methods of analysis. This includes the preparation of samples and necessary reagents, independently executing enzyme assays, processing data, interpreting the results, and reporting to project partners.
- Develop new biochemical analytical assays and optimize existing protocols by leveraging your technical skillset and theoretical understanding of enzyme activity.
- Contribute to the development and use of automation in our biochemical analysis workflows and drive the expansion of these technologies both within and across teams.
- Display and promote positive safety behaviors; optimization of existing assays into safer alternatives, use of proper personal protective equipment, appropriate safety tools, equipment and procedures to ensure that you and others go home safely each day.
We offer
- Exposure to cutting-edge biochemical analysis and characterization science and the opportunity to make an impact through our innovation projects.
- A state-of-the-art workplace with access to modern equipment that brings together all facets of analytical sciences.
- A commitment to sustainability: be part of an organization where sustainability isn't just a headline but is embedded in our strategy and processes.
- A community that supports you in your professional growth and development.
- A company that is purpose-led and performance-driven in a corporate culture that values people and planet.
- A competitive compensation package with comprehensive health and welfare benefits.
You Bring
- Master, Bachelor or HBO degree in (analytical) biochemistry, analytical sciences, enzymology, biotechnology, or related sciences, with a demonstrable (theoretical) background in enzymology and/or biocatalysis.
- Work experience in performing and/or developing enzyme assays in a research, academic or industrial setting is highly desired.
- Willingness to develop hands-on skills in lab automation and a desire to deepen this skillset over time. Affinity with programming languages (Python), preferably within a lab automation context (e.g. liquid handling platforms) is an asset.
- A drive to learn, grow and develop.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and comfortable in expressing yourself in English.
- A high degree of ownership and independence in lab work and reporting of data.
