Job title – Associate Scientist Bioinformatics

Location – Delft, The Netherlands

We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Scientist to join dsm-firmenich's Data Science & AI unit. You will join a team which is at the forefront of developing and deploying -omics analyses workflows and modeling & AI algorithms to innovate in health, nutrition and beauty in dsm-firmenich.

Your key responsibilities

Develop, implement and maintain bioinformatics algorithms and workflows on cloud infrastructure
Utilize Python and/or R and its most common libraries to build and optimize omics analysis methods
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate scientific requirements into scalable and user-friendly tools.
Perform trainings and demonstrations of tools we develop for the scientific community
Report and publish results internally and also in scientific journals
Apply modern tools such as git, AWS, Docker, relational data models, cloud-native computing and API endpoints in your daily work.

You bring

Ph.D. or similar experience (4 years) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
Experience in omics data analysis and workflow development (CWL/Nextflow)
Demonstrated proficiency in scientific programming languages (Python/R) and its data science libraries.
Hands-on experience with AWS services, containerization and databases.
Clear interest in computational and biotechnological developments in microbial and microbiome omics domain
Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts to non-experts and actionable insights.
