As a (Senior) Scientist in Lab Automation, you’ll design and deploy high‑throughput, automated experimental workflows that drive strain development and bioprocess innovation. Your key responsibilities
- Translate project and business needs into robust automated experimental workflows, including data tracking & data analysis approaches.
- Using data-driven approaches, design and optimize predictive high-throughput screening and automated strain engineering workflows.
- Plan and execute experimental work, analyse and document data, and communicate results through meetings as well as written reports, contributing to scientific excellence and continuous team growth.
- Contribute to mid- and long-term strategy development for lab automation capabilities and their effective implementation across diverse projects.
- Work closely with R&D managers, key scientists in strain engineering, analytics, fermentation, down-stream processing, bioinformatics, and data science, as part of multidisciplinary project teams.

You bring
- A PhD with 5 years of relevant experience in high-throughput screening and downscaling, computational approaches to bioprocess optimization, automated strain engineering, or synthetic biology.
- Ability to address biological questions with quantitative, data-driven and high-throughput approaches. Hands-on experience with design of experiments, biostatistics and bioinformatic and expertise with programming languages (like Python or R) to analyse data is a plus.
- Experience with lab automation technologies, particularly liquid handlers, and solution providers (Tecan, Hamilton, HighRes Biosolutions, Labcyte, Molecular Devices, etc.).
- Familiarity with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Laboratory Execution Systems (LES), and data integration pipelines is a plus.
- Strong written and presentation skills, the ability to work effectively in international teams, and a strong ability to integrate digital solutions into biotech workflows.
