As an Capital Projects Manager, you will build capability of Human Nutrition & Health (HNH) sites to support growth and provide capital project management to our manufacturing facility. The Project Manager has the responsibility to lead and support engineering, systems integration, and process improvements through capital projects and operational efficiency projects within our manufacturing sites. This position will concurrently support multiple capital projects at one or more facilities within the Human Nutrition Premix organization. This is where we produce liquids and dry blends for our dietary supplements and food.

Your key responsibilities:
- Develop, plan, and execute capital projects involving improvements in safety, energy efficiency, increases in production capacity, improvements in product manufacturing costs and quality, infrastructure upgrades, design and installation of new equipment.
- Develops capital investments projects following the appropriate stage gate methodology.
- Creates, optimizes, and drives structured schedules and project plans.
- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Leads the development of capital projects scope and objectives in support of the business strategy concerning clients and stakeholders.
- Provide project leadership and effective decision making throughout each project. Manages and promotes effective teamwork by engaging both Facilities as well as including key clients and stakeholders.
- Develops and leads the scheduling, planning, control, and effective coordination of all the parallel activities related to each project and maintains project schedule through minimal unanticipated schedule challenges.
- Identify and implement creative solutions while being Pro-active in solving challenging project issues. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

You bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (preferred Chemical or Mechanical).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing capital projects in Chemical or pharmaceutical or Food and beverage facilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, PowerPoint and SAP 9.
- ARIBA, AutoCAD and Project Management software a plus.
- Proven experience in managing capital projects in chemical manufacturing plants and construction project management skills.
- Experience with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Process Safety Management (PSM), and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR).
- Working knowledge and experience in the use of the Stage Gate Process for high valued Capital projects.
- Experience in total project delivery (from concept to validation / commissioning and startup process).
- EIT / PE License a plus.
- Excellent planning, organizing, analysis and problem-solving skills. Demonstrated project controls skills in budgeting, project change management, reporting and forecasting, scheduling, claims and financial project cash flow management Demonstrated business acumen.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and presentation communication skills Hands on experience in the negotiation and management of contracts and agreements with engineering contractors, vendors, regulatory and government agencies. Self-starter with leadership ability to site technical leadership Requires ability to bridge technological knowledge with “real world” operation to ensure successful implementation of solutions.
- Requires an advanced level of computer literacy and data entry skill with spreadsheet programs and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint).
The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Salary $110 - $125k
