Process Engineer - Climate Change -Belvidere, NJ

The Challenge
There is no manual to solve the challenges of GHG emissions or energy efficiency, so a profound willingness to learn new things from others is necessary to be successful. You will encounter ambiguity and differences between sites and more importantly your colleagues, being able to connect to people will help to overcome these challenges. Your collaboration and coaching skills will be necessary to train colleagues on site about their responsibilities to keep focusing on climate change initiatives once your project has been successfully executed. 

 

The Position
In this position you will combine your experience in mechanical engineering, process engineering or research & technology with your passion for sustainability.  You will be our driving force in the region to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improving energy efficiency of the several DSM sites. You will work with the teams on the various sites and bring process engineering expertise on these topics, supporting them in developing projects to achieve the DSM goals. In this way you will be the bridge to Climate Change amongst the various sites you support. 
You will be coached by the Senior Process Engineer Climate Change in the same region and by corporate energy experts to be able to deliver the projects scope for the respective locations. Your reporting line will be the Greenhouse Gas director and the improve plant team on the hosting site (dual reporting) but you will explicitly work for other Business Groups and sites in the region, while located on the Belvidere, NJ.
You will be responsible to:

  • Define and execute feasibility studies and prepare preliminary designs, cost estimates and timelines.
  • Support creation of awareness and an engaged culture on GHG emission reduction in the region.  Engagement programs will need to be implemented by local teams, supported by site management teams. While, you will provide advice and practices to increase awareness on the various sites in the region. 
  • Support the safeguard of Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) & Security requirements by identifying the relevant SHE and Security aspects of the feasibility studies you are executing.


The Ideal

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering -Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Biotechnology.
  • Four or more years of proven experience in process engineering preferably in a Nutrition environment, in which process improvement has been a considerable part of the work. 
  • Passion in the field of energy saving and GHG emission reduction, experience is plus.
  • A basic knowledge of finance.
  • Good communication skills, both in writing and in speaking, ability to connect to various people and sites.
  • Able to accommodate 20% travel
