We offer you the opportunity to become part of dsm-firmenich’s international legal, risk and compliance team consisting of tech-empowered trusted partners working closely together with dsm-firmenich’s businesses and stakeholders to bring progress to life™.  To strengthen this legal team, dsm-firmenich is currently looking for an In-house legal counsel with excellent knowledge of data privacy law.

You support our privacy office in the implementation of its strategy and day-to-day operations, and you also work in other corporate law areas such as (international) employment law, IT law and/or sustainability collaborations.

 

The position is based in the Netherlands (Maastricht or Delft).

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  1. In terms of data privacy laws, we expect you to:
  • Provide first-line support and triage for privacy requests (e.g., intake via mailbox and forms).
  • contribute to training and awareness to build employee and business understanding of privacy requirements.
  • Develop and hold training sessions for management in area of law relevant to the function.
  • Collaborate with senior privacy counsel on priority initiatives and escalations where needed.
  1. In doing so, we expect you as legal counsel to:
  • Provide legal support to dsm-firmenich’s group services / business units and review, draft, analyze, and negotiate (commercial) transactions and related agreements and sustainability collaborations.
  • Ensure effective cooperation, provide clear and concise legal advice and be able to identify, flag and mitigate risks.
  • Act as a trusted and valued legal business partner for dsm-firmenich group, support compliance with applicable laws, regulations and companies’ requirements and provide (cost) effective and efficient legal support.
  • Keep up to date with actual developments in legislation, regulations, jurisprudence and legal technology in several fields of expertise and geographic areas.

You Bring:

  • Bch law degree, preferably Academic degree.
  • Minimum of 4–5 years of experience within a law firm, as inhouse lawyer and/or international company.
  • Intellectual curiosity with a solid working knowledge of data privacy law and the GDPR, and how to apply it pragmatically in an international company environment.
  • preferably experience in commercial law and/or another law expertise (IT law, employment law).
  • Positive and solution-oriented mindset with ability to manage time effectively, to prioritize matters, to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to synthesize complex legal issues to essential elements to provide clear, concise practical business-minded advice.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, proficient in English.
