Associate Fragrance Development Director, Beauty & Care – Princeton, NJ
Location: Princeton, NJ, US
We are seeking a highly experienced and passionate Associate Director of Fragrance Development to drive the creative and strategic development of our creation pipeline alongside our award-winning perfumers. In this role, you’ll collaborate with our clients, and work internally with our global teams to create innovative, market-leading scents that align with our vision and consumer expectations.
Your Key Responsibilities:
- Fragrance Strategy & Innovation: Execute fragrance strategy across categories, ensuring alignment with global partners, client brand positioning, consumer trends, and business objectives
- Product Development: Lead the creation of new fragrances and enhancements to existing formulations across multiple product categories
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Perfumers, Marketing, Research & Development, and Regulatory teams to bring fragrance concepts to life from ideation to launch
- Market & Trend Analysis: Stay ahead of industry trends and consumer preferences to maintain a competitive edge with our clients
- Evaluation & Testing: Alongside the team of Fragrance Development Managers, plan and conduct olfactive evaluations, sensory testing, and stability assessments to ensure the best possible fragrance experience
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all fragrance formulations comply with International regulatory standards and company guidelines

You Bring:
- 10+ years of fragrance and people leadership experience in cross category fragrance development, preferably within a Fragrance supplier, consumer goods, or beauty brand is required
- Strong understanding of fragrance composition, raw materials, and olfactive families
- A deep passion for fragrance, creativity, and an exceptional olfactory sense
- Strong project management skills with the ability to oversee multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of IFRA standards, regulatory requirements, and sustainability trends in fragrance development
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Perfumery, Cosmetic Science, or a related field with a strong business acumen
The salary or hourly wage scale provided reflects the pay range dsm-firmenich expects to pay the successful candidate for the position. Individual pay offered will be based on the applicant’s job-related skills, experience, relevant education, or training, and primary work location. Salary $175,000-$200,000.
In addition to base salary, we also offer a comprehensive total rewards package, inclusive of annual incentive pay, a retirement savings plan, health care coverage, paid time off, recognition programs and a broad range of other benefits.
