The Analytical Lab Manager is responsible for overseeing all analytical testing related to animal feed, ingredients, and nutritional products. This role ensures the accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of laboratory results, manages a team of lab technicians, and ensures compliance with regulatory and quality standards.

Your key responsibilities

Laboratory Operations:

  • Manage daily operations of the analytical lab, including scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of analytical instruments (e.g., HPLC, ICP, NIR, LC-MSMS).
  • Develop and implement SOPs and quality control procedures.

Analytical Testing:

  • Supervise analysis of feed for nutrient composition (e.g. protein, fiber, minerals, vitamins) and of biological samples (e.g. plasma, tissue from animals) for quantification of small molecules and metabolites.
  • Coordinate the development, validation and troubleshooting of analytical methods.
  • Ensure data integrity and timely reporting of results.
  • Involve in the interpretation of the results in the field of animal nutrition.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise, train, and mentor laboratory staff.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and enforce lab safety protocols.

Collaboration:

  • Ensure a smooth collaboration between the analytical laboratory and the other teams of the research center.
  • Work closely with R&D ANH global teams to support product development.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects.

You bring

The successful candidate will have:

  • Qualifications: Master’s degree or PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Animal Science, Food Science, or related field.
  • Professional experience: 5+ years of experience in the operational management of an analytical laboratory, preferably in animal nutrition or feed/food industry.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical techniques and instrumentation.
  • Strong experience in leading teams and fostering collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and social skills.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluency in English and French.

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Successful experience in operational management.
  • Experience with bioanalytic or feed/food analytic.
  • Knowledge with LIMS and ELN.
