We have 2 opportunities, one for a Senior Application Technologist, and another for an Application Technologist in our HNC Taste business for the EMEA regions.
The HNC (Health, Nutrition & Care) division specializes in developing innovative nutritional, health, and flavor solutions to enhance human well-being and quality of life. Our expertise spans a wide range of finished products across various categories, including pharmaceuticals, medical nutrition, dietary supplements, early life nutrition, and nutrition improvement.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Technical expertise
- Act as a senior technical reference in application of Taste solutions in food, beverages, and galenic formats across the HNC region. Leading complex formulation and application development
- Ensure compliance with GLP, industry standards, regulatory and customer-specific requirements whilst driving continuous development of advanced know‑how in taste technology and processing.
- Produce application demos for customers making full use of our taste technologies while keeping customer processes and equipment in mind.
- Continuously develop ‘know-how’ in taste application and aspire to become a Taste Expert in HNC (i.e.: demonstrate a thorough understanding of Taste technologies, processes, and use of available toolkit).
- Develop new food, beverages or galenic formulations based on Good Laboratory Practices, Industry Standards and country/client specific legislation.
Customer relationship and support
- Serve as our technical coordinator for key strategic customers. Delivering advanced storytelling and technical narratives that strengthen client trust.
- Co‑lead/ collaborate with the commercial team to prepare/ deliver technical presentations on HNC Taste for client briefs and influence customer strategies through insight‑driven technical recommendations.
- Select most suitable processes, ingredients and taste technologies in accordance with customer requirements.
- And support the regional deployment of Taste related technical innovation.
Project management
- Lead strategic and complex customer briefs with full ownership.
- Oversee cross‑functional collaboration with Sales, Creation, Marketing, Sensory, Regulatory, and R&D.
- Identify, shape, and drive new business opportunities with Business Development.
- Contribute to category strategy reviews and proactively identify needs and innovations.
- Timely manage customer briefs using available project management tools.
- Working closely with Sales, Application, Creation, Marketing, Collection Management, Consumer & Sensory Insights, other dsm-firmenich teams, and relevant external partners to achieve the set objectives.
- Identify potential opportunities with Business Development and Commercial Teams turning these opportunities into actionable projects aligned with our Regional Technical Lead.
- Contribute to highlight the category needs for future strategy reviews and alignments, take corrective actions and share, promote and leverage successes.

You bring:
- A strong technical background in Chemistry, Food Science, Pharma, or a related field, with advanced hands‑on expertise in food formulation, flavor application, and food processing.
- Solid experience within the Food, Food Supplement, or pharmaceutical industry, with proven exposure to B2B food ingredients or flavors.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in Food and/or Flavor Product Development, including work on complex or strategic customer projects for our Senior Application Technologist role, and +5 years relevant experience in Food/ Flavor Product Development for the Application Technologist position.
- Demonstrated excellence in project management, with the ability to lead multi‑stakeholder projects, anticipate risks, and deliver with consistency and speed.
- A deep customer‑centric mindset, capable of understanding nuanced technical needs and translating them into impactful, differentiated solutions.
- A proactive, strategic and creative problem‑solver, able to think beyond conventional approaches and drive technical innovation.
- Strong influencing and communication skills, able to guide customers, internal teams, and junior colleagues with clarity and authority.
- Highly developed cross‑functional collaboration, with autonomy, organizational discipline with strong time management and organizational skills and the ability to take initiative.
