Job Title: (Senior) Scientist in Chemical Substances Purification

Location: Geneva, Switzerland

As a successful applicant, you will join our Science and Research - Analytical Sciences group in Geneva. You will be in charge of all practical and organizational aspects of
a research purification laboratory dedicated to the delivery of pure substances coming from our chemical synthesis and biotechnology research laboratories and notably intended for olfactive evaluation by our perfumers. You will also be responsible for the expansion of the purification laboratory with the aim of increasing its capabilities and throughput in the years to come.

Your key responsibilities

  • Apply state-of-the-art purification methodologies to deliver pure chemical/biochemical substances from crude reaction mediums at milligram to gram scales
  • Proactively and ingeniously identify and develop new technical approaches allowing to increase purification capacity and throughput, actively leveraging automation solutions
  • Design, manage and optimize workflows and data tracking in LIMS and ELN systems in a high-throughput environment
  • Manage assets to ensure uninterrupted, year-round laboratory throughput
  • Manage and develop your team of technical experts
  • Proactively identify technical issues, and propose solutions

You bring

  • PhD in Organic or Analytical Chemistry with at least 5 years of professional experience, preferably in a purification laboratory environment, or Master with at least 10 years’ experience
  • Thorough theoretical and hands-on experience in separation science of small molecules, both analytical and preparative (LC, SFC, GC, Flash chromatography, MS, etc.), and evaporation techniques (Rotavap, freeze-drying, flash chromatography, distillation, etc.)
  • Track record of automation and complex workflow implementation and management is required
  • Experience in people management is highly appreciated
  • Creativity, open-mindedness, entrepreneurial spirit and problem solver attitude
  • Established external network in the purification and automation community is valued
  • Good communication skill in English (oral and written) is mandatory, French is a plus
